Scripture of the week
Verse: “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15 NIV
Reflection:
Peter gives us a beautiful picture of what it means to live out our faith. It begins deep within: “In your hearts revere Christ as Lord.” Before we ever speak a word, Christ must be honored in the quiet places of our inner life. When He is truly Lord in our hearts, hope becomes rooted, steady, and unmistakable.
Then Peter calls us to be ready, not with rehearsed arguments, but with a clear understanding of the hope we carry. Our story with Jesus matters. The ways He has rescued, restored, and strengthened us become the reason we can speak with confidence when someone asks why we live the way we do.
And finally, Peter shapes the tone: “with gentleness and respect.” Our witness is never meant to be harsh or forceful. The way we speak should reflect the heart of the One we follow. Gentleness opens doors. Respect softens hearts. When our words carry the character of Christ, our hope becomes visible and inviting.
This verse reminds us that sharing our faith is not about pressure, it’s about presence. It’s about living a life that naturally raises questions and answering those questions in a way that reveals Jesus.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Teach me to honor You deeply in my heart so that my life reflects Your presence. Make my hope in You clear and steady, and prepare me to share it with sincerity. When I speak, let my words carry Your gentleness and Your respect for every person. Shape my witness so that it reflects Your love and draws others toward You.
Amen.
